Fall Pumpkins

Grab your vintage Led Zeppelen tee from the back of your closet…it’s Rocktoberfest this weekend in Port Moody!  Okay, so it’s actually a rock and gem show but you can still wear you faded concert T-shirt to it.  Or better yet, dress up like a rock star and attend all the Halloween events going on in the Tri-Cities.  Rock and roll not your thing?  There are plenty of classical music events this weekend, for the kids, for the adults, for those people with nothing to do on a Wednesday morning.  Whether Beethoven or the Beatles, have a rocking good week!

WhatComedian Lisa Lampanelli

The skinny:  Insult comic Lisa Lampanelli is a cross between Don Rickles, “Archie Bunker” and a vial of estrogen. She even won accolades from The King of All Media, Howard Stern who called her “a true original and a brilliant comedy mind who’ll steal the show every time.”  Earlier this year, she was a contestant on the fifth installment of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice where she earned a spot in the Final Four. The skinny:  Minerals and Crystals and Gems, Oh My!  The wonders of the geological world can be seen at ROCKtoberfest 2, Port Moody’s annual gem & mineral show. Colourful patterned agates, glittering crystals and unique jewellery are on display and for sale.
This family event includes demonstrations, spin & win, rocksmash, and chances to win hourly door prizes.  Check out rock dealers from around the province selling one-of-a-kind specimens and working material, holistic crystals, jewellery and craft items, the diverse members’ boutique, fabulous food and much more.  Got a mystery rock?  Bring it along and have an expert identify it.  It’s two days of rock-talk and surprises of Mother Nature’s wonderful treasures.  Entry is by donation.

The skinny:  Let Your Music Shine with children’s entertainers, Lisa & Linda.  Jump and clap, swing and sing this fall with the VSO’s dynamic duo performing Hi-Lo Big Top Circus.  It’s a 3-ring musical Circus this show featuring the melodies of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven and played by a flute, violin, and tuba.  Presented by Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
