Elvis has entered the building…Red Robinson Theatre Building that is.  And others from the past will be visiting the Tri-Cities this week; heritage actors and model A cars will be roaming the streets of Ioco townsite for Ioco’s Ghost Town Day and the 1950’s come alive at a Newfoundland impromptu Kitchen Party held at Place des Arts.  Jump ahead and start getting into the Halloween spirit with a Halloween Magic Show or let chills run down your spine as you attend the murder mystery, Dead Serious, at Evergreen Cultural Centre.  All this and more this coming week.  Whether you head back into the past or jump ahead a few weeks, enjoy your time there!

The skinny:  Get into the Halloween spirit with this frightful and fast-paced murder mystery that takes place at a summer resort. When two young men see the murdered corpse of a co-worker, which then suddenly disappears, they are drawn into a web of deceit, suspicion, and danger involving siblings who have a dark and secretive history. The skinny:  Port Moody Film Society presents Farewell, a film based on true events. In 1985, Sergei Gregoriev, a Soviet colonel in the KGB, wants to force his nation to reform, so he leaks secret information to the West via Pierre Froment, a French nebbish in the diplomatic corps. Gregoriev keeps a lot of balls in the air – a marriage, a teen son he’s trying to bond with, a mistress, and his spying. Meanwhile, Froment keeps his spy work secret from his Russian wife. Ultimately the French president , Mitterrand, uses Gregoriev’s information to make France indispensable to US president Reagan and his government. What:  Ioco Days Festival – Ioco Ghost Town Day

What:  Public Tree Tour
When:  Sunday, October 14 from 1:00 – 3:00pm
Where:  Riverview Hospital (HEY Building) [map]
The skinny:  This is the last public tree tour of the season. Walks are usually led by a volunteer arborist, and last about two hours, depending on weather and walkers’ preference. Dress for the weather, and wear comfy shoes or boots. We go rain or shine. Children and adults welcome. Dogs on ‘leash’ are also welcome.
