The Tri-Cities is filling us to the brim with events this week from golf and mystery films to fundraisers and open houses.  Just take a look at some of this week’s highlights below.  Don’t see anything that tickles your fancy?  Fret not!  There is more fun to be found this week including treating your ears to some acoustic harmonies, getting in on the discussion of “What would you do if you ruled the world?”, burning some calories at some free fitness classes or learning about how you can clean out your clutter.  Check out our Local Event Listings for details on all those events and more that are happening in the days ahead.

What:  20th Annual Rotary Fall Classic

The skinny:  This annual golf tournament is a great opportunity to play a round on this award-winning golf course while raising money for local charities. Highlights include on-course food & beverage samples provided by some of the best, and well known, restaurants from the Tri-Cities, Westwood Plateau’s legendary buffet dinner, prizes and On-Course Activities.

What:  PechaKucha Night Volume 7

The skinny:  PechaKucha Night Coquitlam is fast becoming one of ArtsConnect’s signature series.  PechaKucha Nights features presenters from our community each showing 20 slides for 20 seconds; presentations are concise and the pace exciting! You will be introduced to a variety of new ideas that inspire! The unique PKN concept has caught on worldwide as Coquitlam is just one of 470 international cities hosting PechaKucha Nights. What:  CDMF 60th Anniversary Celebration Concert

The skinny:  The Coquitlam District Music Festival (CDMF) Performing Arts Festival Society presents their 60th Anniversary Celebration Concert featuring performers from past and present in piano, strings, dance, song and speech. What:  Film Night – French Mystery Mini-Fest

The skinny:  The Port Moody Film Society presents a weekend of mystery at the Inlet Theatre with their French Movie Mini-Fest this Friday and Saturday.  Tickets are only available at City Hall Galleria after 6:45 pm on film nights. What:  Treefest
When:  Saturday, September 15 from 11:00am – 4:00pm
Where:  Henry Esson Young Building 2601 Lougheed Hwy Coquitlam, BC [map]
The skinny:  Treefest provides a special opportunity each year to take in a wide range of activities at the beautiful Riverview Lands. The day will feature tree tours guided by arborists, every hour on the hour. Other highlights will include, heritage building walk, children’s activities and Blackberry Tea – the latter in the Serenity Garden for the first time. Musicians and artists will be on site, as well as displays by community groups. Food vendors will be there, too, or feel free to bring a picnic lunch. New this year- bus tours guided by a retired psychiatric nurse, telling his Riverview stories. The tours will provide opportunities to visit Finnie’s Garden, the SPARC Radio Museum and other parts of the Riverview Lands. Admission: Free

What:  2012 Safety Fair

Visit exhibits and chat with representatives from a variety of organizations.  Pledge to Leave The Phone Alone and participate in activities such as DriveWise Driving Simulators, putting, basketball shooting, and hockey slap shot games. Kids can bring their bikes to try a Pedalheads bike rodeo, enjoy a bouncy castle, and much more. Get child and booster seat tips from the Child Passenger Safety Network. What:  4th Annual Open House with Les Fêtes Maillardville

What:  Terry Fox Run

Where:  Runs happening in Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam and Anmore
The skinny:  The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where people get together as individuals, families, and groups to raise money for cancer research in Terry’s name.  Come run, walk, skateboard, ride your bike, rollerblade, walk on your hands or just about anything else during the event! The idea is to have FUN while raising funds for cancer research.  There will be four Terry Fox Run events happening in the Tri-Cities.

What:  Second Annual Coats 4 Cuts
