What: Ziggy Marley: Wild And Free Tour

The skinny: Five-time Grammy-winning musician Ziggy Marley has established his presence on the public stage for over a quarter-century. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy and his siblings first sat in on recording sessions with his father’s band, the legendary Bob Marley and the Wailers when he was just ten years old. Later Ziggy joined with his sisters Sharon and Cedella and brother Stephen to become Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers allowing him to craft his own soulful sound which blends blues, R&B, hip-hop and roots reggae.

The skinny: Village Vibe takes place on a covered outdoor stage at Leigh Square every Saturday afternoon from July – August and features emerging performers in dance, music and improv. What: Threesome: Drawings Art Exhibition Opening Reception

The skinny: For three weeks in July and August (July 19-August 20), a variety of galleries and museums in Metro Vancouver collaborate to pay homage to the medium of drawing. Leigh Square Community Arts Village offers a Chinese Canadian take on the festivities, presenting the sketches of architecture, figures, and animals by artists Yukman Lai, Harold Ma, and Arthur Shu-Ren Cheng in “Threesome” at Leigh Square Community Arts Village from July 19 through August 20.  All three are known for their works but have seldom displayed their early drawings.
