It’s pretty quiet around the Tri-Cities during this week after Canada Day but we do have several great concerts/music events, plus the Mayors’ BBQ and the popular Salsa & Latin Dance Night . Enjoy!

What: Port Coquitlam Farmers Market
When: Thursday, July 5 from 3:00-7:00pm

The skinny: Theme: Strawberries!! This is a lively afternoon farmers’ market bringing freshly picked vegetables and fruit from nearby farms into the downtown.  Delicious sweets and savouries are available from many prepared food vendors.  Linger awhile and enjoy the music of local young and not-so-young musicians while you have a light supper from Didi’s Greek Pita (try the chicken souvlaki!) and the best coffee ever from Vango Espresso.

What: Nazareth

The skinny: It was in the early 60’s when Scotland’s legendary hard rockers, Nazareth began as The Shadettes. The band was made up of Dan McCafferty on vocals, Pete Agnew on bass and Darrell Sweet on drums but after the addition of lead guitarist Manny Charlton in 1968, the guys decided they needed a name change and found it in the first line of the song, “The Weight” by The Band: “I pulled into Nazareth”. Their first hit was “Broken Down Angel” from their 1973 album, Razamanaz.

What: Village Vibe

The skinny: Village Vibe takes place on a covered outdoor stage at Leigh Square every Saturday afternoon from July – August and features emerging performers in dance, music and improv. The program is free for the community to attend as a way to enhance the arts/cultural life of the city and provides opportunities for local artists to gain exposure and experience in front of a live audience.
