Ready for your weekly events hit? There’s a mystery to be solved in Belcarra this weekend, some Latin beats looking for bodies to groove to their music and a large outdoor movie screen searching for viewers.  So many free outdoor activities to take in this weekend and some great indoor theatre events to enjoy too.  Good luck narrowing down which to attend!

What: Theatrix Presents Honk! Jr.

What: Port Coquitlam Farmers Market
When:  Thursday, July 26 from 3:00 – 7:00pm
Where: Leigh Square off Shaughnessy Street next to City Hall in Port Coquitlam [map]
The skinny:  Blueberry Pancakes fresh off the griddle. This is a lively afternoon farmers’ market bringing freshly picked vegetables and fruit from nearby farms into the downtown. Delicious sweets and savouries are available from many prepared food vendors. Linger awhile and enjoy the music of local young and not-so-young musicians while you have a light supper from Didi’s Greek Pita (try the chicken souvlaki!) and the best coffee ever from Vango Espresso.

The skinny:  For an unforgettable Friday night experience, start your weekend off with an outdoor movie night this summer! Our 26ft tall enormous silver screen will be traveling around the city parks so pack a picnic, bring a blanket and round up some friends or bring the whole family out to see Real Steel at Cinema Under the Stars! What:  Critter Capers: Case of the Cracked Shell

The skinny:  Metro Vancouver Regional Parks presents their 10th Critter Caper. It’s a series of family oriented mysteries. A cracked seashell was found in the forest. How did it get there and who was trying to eat it? Examine fur, feathers, and other evidence to solve the mystery. Make a plaster track to take home. Allow 1 hour. What:  Village Vibe Concert Series – Ivan Dimitrov and Sheldon Witt

The skinny:  Village Vibe takes place on a covered outdoor stage at Leigh Square every Saturday afternoon from July – August and features emerging performers in dance, music and improv. The program is free for the community to attend as a way to enhance the arts/cultural life of the city and provides opportunities for local artists to gain exposure and experience in front of a live audience. What:  Summer Sunday Concert – Mr Boogie Woogie w/ James Rogers Band

Mr Boogie Woogie w/ James Rogers Band – Voted best European Blues Pianist, Internationally known pianist, singer and recording artist Eric-Jan Overbeek, native of the Netherlands, wraps up his North American tour with his first ever visit to Vancouver and Summer Sunday Concerts.
