What: Community Banner Project

The skinny: Place des Arts is turning 40 and to kick of the 2012/13 anniversary season, we’re inviting the community to participate in a banner project to create vibrant new banners for the Carré Heritage Square site. Thanks to a $3000.00 grant from the Coquitlam Foundation, Place des Arts has engaged experienced local artist and Place des Arts teacher Joy Kirkwood to design the banners and lead a series of community engagements.

The skinny: Kids Day at the Market – face painting is just one of the great things to do today. This is a lively afternoon farmers’ market bringing freshly picked vegetables and fruit from nearby farms into the downtown. The skinny: Don’t miss this superb vocal performance, featuring principal Asha Lohia and the teachers and students of Guru Sangeet Martand Padma Vibushan Pandit Jasraj. The Pandit Jasraj School of Music Foundation fosters the preservation, growth, and teaching of Indian Classical Music in the traditional style of Mewati Gharana. Visiting world renowned artist Pandit Rattan Mohan Sharma, nephew of Pandit Jasraj, will be at this recital and will treat the audience to a classical composition.
