Canada Day will be here before we know it, and we’ve got you covered. We have the scoop on how to celebrate our country’s 145th birthday right here in the Tri-Cities. Read on for all the Canada Day fun!

Coquitlam

Canada Day in Coquitlam happens from 12:00-11:00pm at Lafarge Lake and Evergreen Cultural Centre [map]. This fabulous, free event is back and better than ever. Taste food from around the world at the Taste of Coquitlam and get active in the Adventure Village. Explore the Cultural Village, experience the arts and enjoy the fireworks from the Social Village. And take in the new kid on the block this year, the Green Village, featuring all things sustainable. There are four stages packed with entertainment, roving entertainers, and lots of fun for the whole family. All the festival favourites you know and love will be there. And you won’t want to miss the fireworks at dusk.

Port Coquitlam

There’s lots happening on Canada Day in Port Coquitlam. From 8-11:30am you can catch the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast and the 11th Annual Fishing Derby for kids 10 and under at Lions Park [map]. From noon until dusk the action moves to Castle Park [map]. Following the Opening Ceremonies and Cake Cutting (mmm, cake), the Community Showcase, Children’s Activities and International Bazaar run from 12:30-5:30pm. The fabulous Firefighter’s Salmon Barbecue runs from 3:30-6:30pm and Evening Entertainment is planned for 6-10pm. To wrap it all up, there will be fireworks at dusk. To help you get to Castle Park there’s a free shuttle service from the West Coast Express parking lot on Kingsway Avenue running every half hour from 11:30 am to midnight. Extra free parking is also available at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex.

Port Moody

Port Moody Station Museum is celebrating Canada Day with their Family Programming Days for the new exhibit “Chinese Legacies”, from 11:00am-4:00pm on from June 30-July 2. There will be lantern crafting, spike driving and scavenger hunts, as well as a number of cultural displays taking place over the weekend [map].

Port Moody marks the Canada Day long weekend every year with its Golden Spike Days Festival. The festival runs from June 30-July 2, and you can catch the Canada Day celebrations from 1:00-1:30 on the main stage. Plus, there will be cupcakes! Heading down to Rocky Point Park [map] and checking out the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers sounds like a fun way to say, “Happy birthday Canada,” don’t you think?
