Girls Night Out – Port Moody Arts Centre’s Sold Out Event

Girls Night Out 2012 Port Moody Inlet Theatre

Girly Stuff and Prizes

What’s all this talk about Spanx, free-range babies and wizards?

It was “Girls Night Out” in Port Moody as I joined five of my girlfriends at the Inlet Theatre on Friday, April 13th, for this girls-only fundraising event in support of the Port Moody Arts Centre Society.

What lured over 200 women to buy tickets to make it a sold out event?  Maybe it was the free shoulder massages provided by Esposito Massage, the free makeup samples from Avon, the nail designs from KC London Nail Design Studio, the Bellyfit demo from Younique or the Nutrition Consultations from Insight Nutrition.  Or perhaps it was the appetizers provided by Cobs Bread, the gelato from Rubens Chocolates, or the cash bar that served glasses of wine.  Maybe, but I don’t think so.

How about the 25 door prizes that they gave away or the four raffle prizes that were valued around $1050 each?  Nope.  I think it was something else that drew that many women in.

Good Cause

I guess I could speculate that it was the good cause of helping raise money for The Port Moody Arts Centre Society that brought that many women out. After all, it’s great to have a place in our community that supports and inspires creativity for all to enjoy, whether you’re a student at one of their art classes or a participant at one of their entertaining events.  And as charitable as that would be, I don’t think that was the reason for most that attended “Girls Night Out”.  It was definitely an added bonus that we were helping to raise money for a local organization but not the driving force that sold out the night.

Comedy Night – No Guys Allowed

So what made it a sold out event?  Maybe it was the promised laughs of the main event – the comedy show.  A night of four women comics on stage, who’s goal was to make every woman’s stomach and face muscles hurt by the end of the night.  Who doesn’t love to laugh?  And the comedians did not disappoint as I was definitely laughed-out by the end of the evening.  But let’s be honest here.  What woman wouldn’t jump at the chance for a night out with the girls?  And then for a night out where you are pampered, entertained and possibly walking out with prizes in hand?  No husbands, no kids, no boyfriends or brothers or dogs to test your nerves.  Just you and the girls eating, laughing, drinking wine and enjoying the night; that’s truly why I think that “Girls Night Out” was a sold out event.  Everything else was just a bonus.

Port Moody Arts Centre’s Next Event

As for the Spanx, free-range babies and wizards…well, you had to be there.  If I were to attempt to reiterate those jokes, I would just fail miserably so it’s best that you just attend next year so you don’t miss out. In the meantime, look at buying your tickets now for The Port Moody Arts Centre’s next event, Best of BC Wines Uncorked, happening May 26th at the Port Moody City Hall Galleria. You can always make that your next girls night out or bring along the guys with you to enjoy an evening of sampling new and current wines from some of the top BC wineries. Who doesn’t love a nicely crushed, fermented grape? Plus, you could win a pair of tickets to attend for free – visit our Best of BC Wines Uncorked Contest Page to find out more.
