What’s Up in The Tri-Cities: Health Fair, Taste of Poco Spirit + Pecha Kucha Night!

This week in the Tri-Cities brings us some great “healthy” events like the health fair, a run/walk and a girl’s workshop. There are also plenty of fun events for the kids, the wine tasting event A Taste of PoCo Spirit for the adults and also the popular Pecha Kucha Night. Enjoy!

What: Coastal Sound’s Day of Singing
When: Friday, February 17 at 9:00am
Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre [map]
The skinny: Boys and girls in grades 3 to 8 are invited to spend a day honing their singing skills and learning new music with the inspiring Canadian composer Brian Tate. Perform in an evening concert at Evergreen Cultural Centre that same night!

What: PRO_D Event Paintball
When: Friday, February 17 at 9:00am-3:00pm
Where: Westhill Youth Centre [map]
The skinny: For youth ages 11-16 yrs. Are you ready for paintball action? We are heading to Ambush Paintball for an all day adventure.
Cost INCLUDES chartered bus transport, admission, paintball gun rental, helmet and 150 balls for amunition. Leaving from Westhill Youth Centre – 203 Westhill Place promptly at 9am. Plan to arrive early to catch the bus!

What: Silver Fox Run/ Walk
When: Saturday, February 18 at 9:00am-11:00am
Where: Lions Park [map]
The skinny:This event will kick off the Health Fair as a fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation. Everyone of all abilities are welcome to run, walk, bike or scoot the Traboulay PoCo Trail. Starting at Lions Park with a 5 km or 2.5 km route. Come out and support a good cause. Pledge forms can be picked up at the Wilson Centre.

What: “Empowering Our Teen Girls” – Workshop

The skinny: This enlightening and educational workshop for teen girls and parents or adult figures in their lives will focus on developing useful skills to empower us to cope with verbal, emotional, social & physical challenges we are exposed to every day. What: Whose Live Anyway

The skinny: Whose Live Anyway? — originally called A Night of Improv — first appeared in 1999 when it sold out two shows in under three hours at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Following its initial success, the show’s Executive Producer and star, Ryan Stiles expanded the number of appearances of the show to include many major cities in Canada and the US where it remained a consistent sell-out.
