Port Moody By-Election Delay

So we’ve been without an MLA in Port Moody since the fall. The candidates from the three parties that are going to enter the race are all set. Yet we still don’t have a date for when this is all going to go down. The Globe and Mail has a look at the impending by-elections in Port Moody and Chilliwack.

Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore fired up his blog this week to ask the eternal question, “What makes us happy?”

Coquitlam Counsellor Selina Robinson looks at the growth in surrounding communities and asks what Coquitlam can learn.

The deadline is approaching for grant applications to get into the Coquitlam Foundation. The foundation handed out $55,000 to local non-profits last year.

Colony Farm is getting a sustainability plan, and Gaetan Royer from Metro Vancouver visited Coquitlam council to present the draft report. The biggest thing to figure out is how much community farming should be allowed in the park, and what the nature of those operations should be. One of Coquitlam’s best kept secrets are the community gardens in the park, where local residents farm small plots. Much more discussion will be had before the plan is complete.

The Port Moody Heritage Society is reminding us that you can help support them by becoming a member. $10 for an individual or $15 for a family helps maintain their preservation efforts, programs, and events.
