We have a few good events for this week including two great acts – John & Jen and Tony Bennett. There are also two concerts, a dance performance and the Community Banner Painting Festival to bring everyone in the community together. Enjoy!

What: 101 Seminar – Women & Money

What: Community Banner Painting Festival
When: Saturday, January 21 & 22 from 11:30am-4:00pm
Where: Inlet Theatre [map]
The skinny: Local artists and Port Moody residents paint colourful community-designed banners that line major Port Moody streets come springtime. Come see the artists painting their banners, or volunteer to paint a banner yourself. Banners will be on display in the Galleria from Jan 23 to Feb 6.

What: The Tri-Cities Firefighters Burrito Eating Challenge
When: Saturday, January 21 at 1:00pm
Where: Oxford Market Taco Del Mar [map]
The skinny: Firefighters from each Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody fire hall will compete to finish a TACO DEL MAR® 5-pound burrito. During the weekend festivities (Friday through Sunday), $1 of each burrito sold will be donated to the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

What: Yarilo Concert

The skinny: Maestro Quintana is acknowledged as the most versatile and consummate pianist currently performing in concert halls in Mexico. This recital of solo piano music is dedicated to Mexican composers from 1880 to 1980. While the composers will not be familiar names, the music crosses all international boundaries.

What: Emerging Talent Festival

Where: Evergreen Cultural Centre [map]
The skinny: The Festival features the creative work of some of the most talented teens in the Tri-Cities, and includes a juried film festival, premiere screenings of two short documentaries shot by the Teens @ Evergreen under the guidance of professional filmmaker and mentor Pia Yona Massie, live theatre by the Teens @ Evergreen Theatre Ensemble, and live performances by local emerging musicians.

What: Skills Connect for Immigrants
