Links – Sorta Date for the Evergreen Line

Evergreen Line Skydiving over Port Coquitlam

One day there’s going to be rapid transit going by my house, and it looks like we have a kinda, sorta date. End of next summer we will be building the Evergreen Line it looks like. Now we’ve had dates before, so stay tuned as always.

Civic Election News this week. The Port Moody City of the Arts blog wrote a roundup of the Port Moody All-Candidates meeting on Tuesday night. John Grasty writes this week about the hiatus in Port Moody’s economic development, that is hopefully soon coming to an end. And the Tri-City News wrote a great editorial about the sacrifices that all candidates are making to help make the Tri-Cities a better place to be. Something we should all remember as we head toward that November 19th date.

With that in mind, the Cheat Sheet function of TriCityVotes.com is being implemented as we speak. Try it out and let us know if it works for you or if you have any problems at team@tricityvotes.com

Two Port Moody residents, Mary Anne Cooper and Ron Curties were awarded the Freedom of the City in Port Moody. Congratulations, and it’s people like Mary Anne and Ron that make our community such a special place to live.

Speaking of awards, the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce announced the nominees for their annual awards at a luncheon last week.

A crazy thing happened this week at Global BC. The Children’s Hospital Home Lottery was drawn during the Noon News, and the name pulled was our colleague, sportscaster Barry Deley. It’s such a great story, as his daughter went through leukaemia treatments at Children’s. We had often wondered around the office what would happen if one of our own was drawn out of one of those barrels we regularly draw from live on the air, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Miss604 has all the November events across Metro Vancouver.

This is neat. A message board thread about eagles living in Rocky Point Park, with maps and some very cool pictures.

Some local photographers have been out enjoying our fairly dry fall weather. Leina Wade is shooting in Rocky Point Park, Rae Clevett is at Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam, and Lynne Bradford broke out the watercolours to show us Port Moody at Dusk.

Restaurant Reviews! Robin Leung hits I Love Sushi in Coquitlam, Michael Kwan hits Cora’s Breakfast and Lunch, and The Food Queen enjoys Wah Wing in Coquitlam.

Finally, ever wondered what it would be like to jump out of a plane over Port Coquitlam? Here’s your chance to find out.
