What: Unplugged at the Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse

The skinny: With a unique repertoire that spans traditional folk ballads, favourite tunes of the 50s and 60s, and musical theatre, Soft Focus refuses to be categorized. What:Â Life & Times of Johnny Cash

The skinny:Â An inspired musical documentary of the tumultuous career of the legendary Man in Black. The show is a highly entertaining tribute to Johnny Cash starring Gary Kehoe, who has performed a theatre show across Canada for the last six years. He is accompanied by his band and several guest artists with some surprise tributes. The show incorporates music, little-known anecdotes, multi-media elements and lots of good old fashioned fun.

What: Dynamic Watercolours

What: Opening Reception for “Two Landscapes”

The skinny:Â In July 1971, 18 year old Roy Forbes left his hometown of Dawson Creek under the name “Bim”. His songwriting, singing and guitar playing earned him immediate acclaim. Over the past four decades Roy has developed into one of Canada’s best loved acoustic performers, interpreting blues classics as well as his own amazing compostions. He has recorded solo albums plus two UHF collaborations with Shari Ulrich and Bill Henderson and has won many awards.

What: Last Tree Walk for 2011 at Riverview

The skinny: Guided walk among the mature trees at Riverview Hospital. See the early growth starting up. Learn about which trees you could plant in your garden. Walks last about 2 hours. Wear comfortable shoes or boots. Rain or shine. Site is hilly, limited access for wheelchairs.

What: Mad Hatters Tea Party Exhibit Spin-In

The skinny: The Coquitlam Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild have created some whimsical, and some utilitarian, pieces for the “Mad Hatters Tea Party”, their 2011 Festival of the Arts exhibit on display at the Port Moody City Hall Civic Centre Galleria. Join the spinners and weavers at a Spin-in on Sunday October 2th.
