Port Moody Festival of the Arts Expressions of Iran

This week in the Tri-Cities brings us the 14th Annual Port Moody Festival of the Arts which occurs at various locations throughout Port Moody. Check out our post on the event here for a rundown of all the events scheduled for the festival. Also happening is the Rivers and Trails Festival plus the 10 km & half marathon run/walk that comes before it, Antiques Roadshow and several great recurring events starting up at Leigh Square. What: 14th Annual Port Moody Festival of the Arts

The skinny: The Port Moody Arts Centre is hard at work on the Port Moody Festival of the Arts. This multi-disciplinary festival brings arts and culture to your doorstep! The 14th annual event has a line-up that includes Jill Barber and Matthew Barber, Said the Whale, LOL Comedy Night, Expressions of Iran, and more music and art events.

What: Felice Women’s Choir

The skinny: Under the tutelage of music conductor and director Mr. Hyun Jung Kim, this community based choir pursues excellence in performance and celebrates a varied repertoire from classical to folk and pop. What: Youth Matters Musical Jam Song Writing Session

The skinny: On a Red Cross Babysitting course, children learn how to be safer when they are at home alone as well as how to become a great babysitter. What: Legends of Rock N Roll – Ultimate Elvis Concert

What:Â Trail River 10km & Half Marathon Run/Walk
When: Sunday, September 25 at 8:00am
Where: Hyde Creek Recreation Centre [map]
The skinny: Enjoy a picturesque run through the trails on mostly soft surface for the 21.1 km half marathon and 10 K courses. Half marathon walkers start at 8 am, half marathon runners start at 9 am and 10K walkers and runners start at 9:15 am. Finish your event and then head down to Peace Park for the Rivers and Trails Festival!

The skinny: The Festival takes place in Peace Park right on the majestic Pitt River. Come enjoy great outdoor fun in celebration of Port Coquitlam’s many rivers and trails. Activities at this free community event include hands-on displays, entertainment, informative nature walks, demonstrations and more! This event is held in conjunction with the provincially celebrated BC Rivers Day.

The skinny: Led and organized by passionate student volunteers from Riverside Secondary High School, this weekly Glee Club will have your child singing and dancing together with songs from many popular genres such as Pop, Country, Musicals, Duets, Acapella, Ballads, and Choir. The skinny: These drop-in sessions for emerging to mid-career artists working in a variety of media offer a chance to meet, interact and share ideas while working on any project. No need to pre-register. Afternoons dedicated to drawing and painting portraits from clothed live models. Just come with your latest project and have a good time creating with others!
