What’s Up in the Tri-Cities: Car Show, Kidney Walk + Tree Tour!

This week in the Tri-Cities has a few diverse events for all of us to enjoy. First up is the recurring ArtistCircle, then we have a fundraiser, a car show, the Kidney Walk and a few other great events in between. Finally, the Riverview Hospital’s Public Tree Tour rounds out this week’s events.

What: Insects of Forest and Pond

The skinny: Come on a bug hunt to find what hides in the forest. Net aquatic snails, beetles and damselfly naiads. Learn about insects, worms, arachnids and other many-legged invertebrates (animals without backbones).

What:Â Dirt! The Movie

The skinny: Free Outdoor Screening of Dirt! The Movie. It is an insightful and timely film that tells the story of the glorious and unappreciated material beneath our feet. Inspired by William Bryant Logan’s acclaimed book ‘Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth’, Dirt! The Movie takes a humorous and substantial look into the history and current state of the living organic matter that we come from and will later return to. Dirt! What:Â Port Coquitlam BIA Car Show

Where: Downtown Port Coquitlam
The skinny:Â Hosted by the Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association, Port Coquitlam’s Downtown Car Show provides visitors an incredible opportunity to see a range of unique, vintage and custom vehicles as over 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles line the downtown streets. Admission is Free.

What: Tri-Cities Kidney Walk
When: Sunday, August 21 from 10:00am-4:00pm

The skinny: Tri-Cities will be hosting The Kidney Foundation’s 4th annual Kidney Walk to promote organ donation. The Kidney Foundation of Canada is a grass-roots, volunteer-based organization that strives to not only help improve the lives of those with kidney disease, but also works to promote awareness to B.C communities about kidney health through various annual fundraisers and events.

What: Public Tree Tour at Riverview
When: Sunday, August 21 from 1:00-3:00pm
Where: Riverview Hospital [map]
The skinny: Come visit this World Class Collection of Trees (Arboretum). Tours last for about 2 hours, depending on weather and walkers preference.
Dress for the weather & make sure to wear, comfy shoes or boots.
Tours go RAIN or SHINE.
