ArtsConnect Presents PechaKucha Night

Pecha Kucha Vol 4 Coquitlam

Leading a self-reflexive life, meeting spirit guides, a personal journey through the music industry and building online communities are just a few of the presenters’ topics at ArtsConnect‘s next PechaKucha Night.

ArtsConnect announces its 4th event, which is shaping up to be another stimulating evening of sharing inspiration and ideas of local community members. These creative minds from a variety of disciplines and interests and will show and tell us what they’re passionate about – providing an inside, and sometimes surprising, glimpse of what they’re into.

PechaKucha is the Japanese term for “chit-chat”. PechaKucha Night is an innovative event that has taken the world by storm. It now takes place in over 400 cities around the world, and more are being added all the time. Presenters show 20 slides for 20 seconds each, to share ideas about what they do and what inspires their creative work and lives. And mid-way through the event, the famous “beer break” gives attendees a chance to mingle with the presenters and talk about the ideas they’ve heard.

Jon and I have both attended a PechaKucha Night now – although not the same one since someone has to stay home with the kids – and I would say that PechaKucha must be experienced to be understood. I was personally amazed and inspired by the work people are doing in my local community. I attended the 2nd PechaKucha Night back in February and learned about video games, yoga, art, music, photography, wood-working and protecting our natural environment. It was really incredible.
