The Evergreen Stage will have family-friendly entertainment and the Water Stage features music throughout the day and the fireworks at dusk. You can eat at Taste of Coquitlam, you can shop at the Artisan Market, you can get creative with some art activities and you can have some fun at Adventure Village and the Youth Jam. There’s lots happening on Canada Day in Port Coquitlam. From 8-11:30am you can catch the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast and the 10th Annual Fishing Derby for kids 12 and under at Lions Park [map]. And then from noon until dusk the action moves to Castle Park [map]. Following the Opening Ceremonies, the Community Showcase, Children’s Activities and International Bazaar run from 12:30-5:30pm. The fabulous Firefighter’s Salmon Barbecue starts at 4pm and Evening Entertainment is planned for 6-10pm. To wrap it all up, there will be fireworks at dusk. For more information call 604.927.7935.

Port Moody Station Museum is celebrating Canada Day and the 125th CPR Train Anniversary with free fun from 11am to 4pm starting on Canada Day and continuing until Sunday, July 3 [map]. Costumed heritage actors will be on site to delight you with stories from 1886. The Morse Telegraph Society will demonstrate their telegraphy skills and artist J Peachy will be doing live painting. Lots of free activities for the family to enjoy including our popular Golden Spike Scavenger Hunt and railway crafts. Also check out our costume photos and personalize your own Museum rail tie booth. There’s even free Canada Day cake every day! For more information call 604.939.1648.

Port Moody marks the Canada Day long weekend every year with its Golden Spike Days Festival. We’ll be talking more about that on Monday, but heading down to Rocky Point Park [map] and checking out the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers sounds like a fun way to say, “Happy birthday Canada,” don’t you think?

Happy Canada Day!
