Port Coquitlam Volunteer Recognition Nominations

Port Coquitlam

Keeping a City running effectively takes more than just politicians and CUPE members. It takes a whole lot of people who are willing to pitch in and volunteer. Port Coquitlam has been recognizing these tireless individuals since 1997, and if you know someone who helps make Port Coquitlam better, it’s time to let the City know.

The City of Port Coquitlam is accepting nominations for Volunteer Recognition Awards. The City hands out the awards at the annual volunteer tribute it holds each April. Nominations are accepted in six categories:

  • Arts, Heritage & Cultural Awareness
  • Caring & Safety
  • Environmental Protection & Enhancement
  • Sports & Recreation
  • Youth Programs
  • U21 (youth under age 21)

Nominees can be any age and do not have to live in Port Coquitlam. They cannot have previously received an award from the City, and must meet at least one of these criteria:

  • their unpaid volunteer contributions provide extraordinary help or care to families or groups in Port Coquitlam
  • they continually commit their time, talent and energy, without pay, to improve the quality of life in Port Coquitlam, or
  • they have been voluntarily involved in a program or project that has had a lasting benefit for Port Coquitlam and its residents.

All 2011 nominees will receive a commemorative pin and certificate, along with an invitation to the tribute evening to be held April 12 during National Volunteer Week at Riverside Secondary School. Terasen Gas are proudly sponsoring the awards and event.

Nominations are accepted until March 11th. The nomination forms are available online at www.portcoquitlam.ca/volunteer as well as at City Hall (2580 Shaughnessy Street), Port Coquitlam Rec Complex (2150 Wilson Centre), Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Avenue) and Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Road).
