Coquitlam Foundation accepting grant and bursary applications

Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam

The Coquitlam Foundation is handing out some cash this spring, about $50,000 worth, and applications are being accepted now. It doesn’t mean that the Coquitlam Foundation is going to be supporting the “Send Jon to Tahiti Fund” – although that would be nice. Local charitable organizations, or organizations partnered with registered charities are eligible. This is a fantastic opportunity for charities in Coquitlam to get some much needed funds to continue their great work here in the Tri-Cities. The awards will be handed out at the Coquitlam Foundation’s Awards Night, happening on May 24th at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.

From the release…

“We’re very pleased to be able to continue supporting the community in this manner,” says Executive Director Laurel Lawson. “Many worthy community organizations and individuals are struggling to find funds, and we are more than happy to lend them a hand.”

Lawson notes the Foundation is in an especially strong position this year to support grant applications relating to the fostering of the arts in Coquitlam. Other areas of interest which have been identified by the board of directors include education and literacy, health and wellness, heritage and history, and conservation. As well, funding for scholarships and bursaries is also available.

The Coquitlam Foundation, which began operation in 1992, encourages and supports creative, targeted philanthropy that builds a vibrant, sustainable and healthy community. It manages more than 20 donor- and foundation-directed funds, focusing on everything from the arts and athletics to literacy and gymnastics. The Foundation continues to enjoy a thriving financial base, managing assets totaling more than $1.7 million.
