Links – That’s a Whole Lot of Santas

Santacon 2010 in Vancouver

Christmas is coming fast, it seems to come quicker every year. Although it should come slower every year as we get one of those leap seconds every once in a while. Anyways, I’ll stop wasting that little longer solar day and get to the links!

Questions are being raised about the state of Eagle Ridge Hospital. Coquitlam council wants to talk with Fraser Health about the role and mandate of the hospital in the community. Apparently the hospital has never operated at capacity since it was opened in 1984, as the money to operate the hospital has never fully been there. With an expanding population in the Tri-Cities, bringing attention to what’s happening at the hospital can only be a good thing.

It’s feeling like the old days in BC politics lately. With both party leaders going down within weeks of each other, attention has turned to who is going to take up the post to fight the next election. Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth is one name that has come up for the NDP leadership, but he’s going to enjoy a little Christmas turkey dinner before deciding whether or not to run. The “Draft Mike Farnworth for BC NDP Leader” Facebook Page is the place to go to lend your support.

Do you like Korean food? Oh My Calico visits South Castle on Austin Avenue.

A little further afield, Outdoor Vancouver shares some pictures of beautiful BC from their Flickr pool.

This Saturday from 12-2pm at the Woodward’s Community Stage downtown, everyone is invited to take part in Canada’s Largest Christmas Carol. They are hoping to set a Canadian record for the largest carol sing, led by Vancouver’s favourite tenor Mark Donnelly. Bring jingle bells!

And last but not least, here’s a video captured on December 4th of Santacon. Just a bunch of Santa’s ripping it up through downtown Vancouver.
