Adopt a Cat with Home for the Holidays

During the holiday season, friends and family gather to celebrate and to enjoy each other’s company. But what about our four-legged feline friends that don’t have a warm place to call home? That’s the question that Coquitlam Animal Shelter staff and volunteers would like us to ponder.

“Our animal shelter has dozens of wonderful cats that would love a good and caring home,” said Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart. “With Home for the Holidays, we’ve set a goal to find homes for 25 cats by Christmas day.”

Anyone who adopts a cat in December will be entered for a raffle basket prize filled with some cat goodies! With all that is offered with each adoption of a loving and devoted pet, there is no better time to add a new furry companion to your family!

All pets from the Animal Shelter come spayed or neutered, receive permanent identification, a set of vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and all cats are tested for diseases. The fee for cat adoptions is $95. But if there is room in your heart, and your home, the adoption fee drops to $75 for the second cat you adopt.

The Coquitlam Animal Shelter does not permit the adoption of pets as gifts for someone else. They also do not do same day adoptions. Applications take 24-48 hours to be reviewed and a shelter attendant will be in contact with you. Adopting a pet is a decision that needs to be carefully considered and agreed upon by the whole family, and the shelter wants to be certain that each adoption provides a good fit between the pet and its new family.

Hello, I was wondering if there were volunteers that are welcome. The reason that I ask this is because when I typed in “animal shelter volunteer coquitlam” this site also came up. However, I did not see anything concerning volunteering in the site nor where it is located. Please answer me as soon as possible. Thank You.
