Positively Petite at Place Des Arts

Positively Petite Exhibition at Place Des Arts Coquitlam

This past Thursday night was the grand opening of the annual Positively Petite exhibition at Place Des Arts. Positively Petite presents 2D and 3D miniatures in a wide variety of media by nearly 50 artists. This year, many returning favourites are back, as well as some new artists. The exhibition runs from November 18th thru December 17th.

From the Place des Arts Release…

Among those returning is long-time Place des Arts artisan John Ostenstad, whose miniature hand-carved wooden gnomes and animals have become a traditional favourite. Also returning are watercolour and acrylic artist James Koll, mixed-media artist Marie Seabrook, ceramic artist Vin Arora and watercolourist Rae Yano.

New exhibitors this year include the ceramic art team of Keith and Celia Jones (Wild Rice Studios), paper quilling artist (and fantastic V3H videographer for the evening) Robin Wong and painter/mixed-media artist Sarah Mulder. Wire and fibre jewelry artist Amanda Maxwell, whose pieces are a regular feature in Place des Arts’ gift shop, will also exhibit her wares in Positively Petite for the first time.

Exhibiting in the Leonore Peyton Salon from November 18 to December 18 is artist Sandrine Pelissier with her portrait exhibition entitled The Landscape of the Face.

Also happening at Place des Arts, just in time for the holidays, is the annual Christmas Boutique. The Christmas Boutique specializes in unique gifts with an artistic flaire. You help support Place des Arts and our local artists, with the added bonus of reducing your carbon footprint by buying local and knowing the gifts you give have been ethically produced. The Christmas Boutique runs until December 17th, but get there early to get the best stuff, as they just can’t order another shipping container of cool, local art.

Thanks again to Robin Wong for shooting the footage for the video, and make sure Place des Arts is one of the first stops for your holiday gift buying.

Could you send me the sizes for the petit call, as I wish to enter next year, and want to work on my art throughout the year.
    Thank you,
