What: Inlet Park Redevelopment Open House

The skinny: The City of Port Moody is conducting a feasibility study for the potential future redevelopment of Inlet Park. The open house will present various park concept plans where you will have the chance to give your feedback.

What: St-Jean Baptiste Day

The skinny: Maillardville’s Francophone Society invites you to this traditional French Canadian celebration that will be filled with lots of joie de vivre: music, skate park and activities for the young and young at heart.

What: Marc Atkinson Trio

The skinny: Enjoy a fabulous ‘Westcoast Grill’ BBQ dinner and a concert from Marc Atkinson, one of Canada’s finest JUNO-nominated, Western Canadian award-winning musicians. He is the leader and composer of the internationally renowned Marc Atkinson Trio (and co-founder, composer and performer in the acclaimed, The Bills). The music of this virtuosic group is melodically captivating, sensually charged and ferociously, technically awe-inspiring.

What: Everything you Need to Know about Shade Plants

What: EPCom Field Day
When: Saturday, June 26 from 12-4pm
Where: Castle Park [map]
The skinny: Join Port Coquitlam’s Emergency Preparedness Communications team (EPCom) in a worldwide amateur radio competition. EPCom is again seeking to be the highest-ranked amateur radio team in its category, and visitors who make radio contact through the Get On the Air (GOTA) station will help the team earn competition points. There will also be information displays and equipment demonstrations.

What: BC Highland Games and Scottish Festival
When: Saturday, June 26 from 12-6pm
Where: Percy Perry Stadium [map]
The skinny: Celebrate all things Scottish! There will be a full slate of traditional events including solo Piping and Drumming, Pipe Bands, Highland and Scottish Country Dancing and the famous Haggis Hunt. The main stage will feature some of the best Celtic music available, while the heavy events will be ongoing throughout the day. As always there will be reminders of Caledonia, old and new, around the stadium. Take your time and become familiar with each area. And the kids will enjoy events including face painting, kite making and haggis tossing.

What: Rose Festival and Floral Design Show
When: Saturday, June 26 from 1-5pm and Sunday, June 27 from 11am-4pm
Where: Dogwood Pavilion [map]
The skinny: Often Canada’s largest show featuring roses and floral design. Public may submit roses for exhibit between 10am – 6pm on Saturday at no charge to win ribbons or trophies. Help and vases provided for display. Public can tour Coquitlam’s fabulous Centennial Rose Garden and judge the most fragrant rose.

What: Veggie and Fruit Containers

The skinny: Learn how to create the correct combination of plants, soil and sun to fill your table year round with home grown fruits and vegetables! All supplies required included. Participants will create and take home their own fruit or vegetable container.

What: Linden Walk 1
When: Sunday, June 27 at 1pm
Where: HEY Building, Riverview Grounds [map]
The skinny: This is a Public Tree Tour run by the Riverview Horticultural Society. Walks are usually led by a volunteer arborist, and last about two hours, depending on weather and walkers’ preference. Dress for the weather, and wear comfy shoes or boots. We go rain or shine. Dogs on ‘leash’ are also welcome.

What: A Midsummer Fete
When: Sunday, June 27 from 1-5pm
Where: Colony Farm Regional Park [map]
The skinny: You’re invited to explore the diverse landscape, flora and fauna of Colony Farm, and the people connected to it. Spend a lovely afternoon in the park and take in dancing, entertainment, storytelling and visual arts. Enjoy the beauty of historic farmland, community gardens, trails and wildlife areas.

What: Place des Arts Year-End Dance Recital
When: Sunday, June 27 – ballet at 3pm, hip hop and jazz at 7pm
Where: Terry Fox Theatre [map]
The skinny: The Place des Arts dance students get the chance to shine under the bright lights of a professional theatre as they perform the pieces they have worked so hard on over the course of the year.
