Wheel to Heal Coming May 16th

The Tricities is a great place for bike riders of all ages, why not do it for a good cause? The Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation is hosting the second annual Wheel to Heal on May 16th.

Wheel to Heal was launched by the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation as a new way to raise money for operating room equipment while also engaging the community in awareness for cycling, fitness, and outdoor family activities. The foundation raises money to purchase approximately 70% of all new equipment and technologies for the hospital and manor which are not funded through the Fraser Health Authority. Since 1999, the Foundation has raised more than $14 million dollars to improve the quality of care we all get at our local hospital.

Wheel to Heal is a fun bike ride with the option of a 10, 40, or 80 km course, with the start and finish for all the races at Town Centre Park. Â In the inaugural ride last year, the event attracted just under 100 riders. The event need about 200 riders to make the investment pay off for the Foundation. Riders can start or join a team, the team with the highest combined fundraising total wins $500 in gift cards for Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse and Bar. You can also sign up as an individual on the Wheel to Heal website.

Surrounding the bike ride are plenty of things to see and do at Town Centre Park. This year there will be face painting, a colouring booth, a fun Pedalheads bike course, 20 min yoga warm up sessions, even more prizes, and a bigger post-ride celebration. All for free with your registration in the ride.
