ArtsConnect’s 11th Annual ArtWalk

ArtsConnect is presenting their 11th Annual ArtWalk on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 at venues throughout Port Moody. The walk runs from 12-5pm each day, and the event is free.

ArtsConnect is a nonprofit society that has been serving Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra for more than 40 years. They try to make arts and culture an accessible part of everyday life, as they believe the arts play a crucial role in creating a vibrant region. They partner with individuals, artists, community groups, businesses and government to broaden arts and culture in our community. They also provide information on local arts and cultural events, classes and activities. You can can support their mission to connect people through the arts by dropping them a line or becoming a member.

The ArtWalk (which used to be called the Studio Tour) is a self-guided tour. It features the work of over 50 local artists, in media ranging from paintings to photography, pottery to glass, and wood to jewelry. This is a chance to enjoy the up close experience of medias that are new to you and meet local artists. You can also view and buy some fantastic original pieces by participating artists from right here in our own backyard. While the ArtWalk happens in Port Moody, the artists come from around the Tri-Cities.

There will also be an opening reception on Friday, April 23 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Old Mill Boathouse [map]. And in the days leading up to the ArtWalk you can catch a preview of the art in the VanCity in Suter Brook Village [map]. Or, if you want to know more about the ArtWalk, or you just like to plan ahead, check out the Facebook Event Page, stop by ArtsConnect’s YouTube Channel to see video from the 2009 walk, or view the event map online.
