Spring Break Camps




NOTE:

Spring Break is happening from March 29-April 1 this year in School District 43, and will be combined with the Easter long weekend which is April 2-April 5. If you have school-aged children you might still be looking for something to do. Here are a few ideas we’ve tracked down for you.

Spring Mini Day Camps
March 21 – 25 and March 28 – April 1, 9:45am – 3:00pm
Ages 6 – 12
Introduce your children or grandchildren to an active outdoor lifestyle and perhaps, their first camp experience. Children should dress for the weather and bring a lunch, sweater and rain jacket.

Fun Leader at City Centre Aquatic Complex
March 26 – April 5, 1:30 – 3pm
All ages
Join us for an afternoon of fun games, activities and crafts lead by our Fun Leader.

Spring Break Swim Camps at City Centre Aquatic Complex
March 29 – April 2, 1 – 4pm
Ages 7 – 12
Your child will start their day with games, activities and crafts, followed by a supervised swim in the wave pool. Please pack a snack. Camps run daily.

Spring Break Aqua Camp at Poirer Sport & Leisure Complex
March 29 – April 1, 1 – 4pm
Ages 7 – 12
CAFC AquaCamp. Camp includes swimming, crafts, games and more. Please bring bathing suit, towel and snack.

Kids on the Go at Poirier Community Centre
March 29 – April 1, 9am – 4pm
Ages 9 – 10
A week long camp full of cooperative games and activities, gym sports, swimming, arts, crafts and much more. Please bring a lunch, 2 snacks, swimsuit, towel and runners every day.

Pinetree Community Centre Day Camp Extravaganza
March 26, March 29 – April 1, 9am – 3pm
Ages 6 – 10
Join us for creative crafts, science experiments, cooking, sports and new games all found within one exciting day!

Kids on Stage
March 29 – April 1, 9am – 5pm
Ages 7 – 12
“Kids on Stage” is new, improved and back for Spring Break. Kids will be engrossed in the creation of a play and will learn a few tricks of the trade. Plus, they will get to see two performances by the “nearly world-famous” DuffleBag Theatre and participate in a private meet-the-actors session. At week’s end they will present their play for family and friends.

Run Away and Join the Circus! *SOLD OUT*

Kindergarten – Grade 5
Kick off your spring break with some high flying fun at Place des Arts. Try your hand at juggling; have fun clowning around; tumble across the floor; create great circus-themed art in this fun, one-day-only multi-disciplinary circus camp.

Spring Break Camp

Kindergarten – Grade 8
Place des Arts’ Spring Break Art Camp is back for 4 days from March 29 to April 1. Four intensive day-long workshops for students in grade 6 to 8 are designed specifically for youth. Blocks of activities in music, dance, drama and visual art engage kids in kindergarten to grade 5.

Spring Break Mornings at The Outlet: Performing Arts Series
March 26, March 29 – April 1, 9am – 12pm
Ages 7 – 12
Tim and Lisa Sars invite you to explore dance, music, and costume making in a warm and supportive
learning environment. Over this 5 day program kids will study the technical aspects of the chosen art fields and create a variety of themes to work with. Back for a third year in a row, these wonderful artists give the children a freedom of artistic expression and skills to manifest them.

Spring Break Afternoons The Outlet: Ingenious Inventions & Crazy Art Creations
March 26, March 29 – April 1, 1 – 4pm
Ages 7 – 12
Say goodbye to pencils and paper and think about art in bold new terms! Make astonishing 3D art out of unlikely materials this Spring Break. Create art that stands as tall as you and sculptures that seem to defy gravity. Take things apart and let your imagination tell you how to put them back together. Turn boring into beautiful and garbage into greatness!

Little Sprockets Bike Camp at Hyde Creek

First Gear
March 29 – April 1, 1 – 3pm
Ages 4 – 9
Get those training wheels off and learn to ride a two-wheeler. Program also includes lessons in road safety. Bring your bike, helmet, and a snack.

Second Gear
March 29 – April 1, 10:30am – 12:30pm
Ages 4 – 9
Gain confidence in riding by improving your steering, braking and riding over different terrain as well as learning road safety. Bring your bike, helmet, and a snack.

Sports Camp at Hyde Creek
March 29 – April 1, 12 – 2pm
Ages 7 – 12
Have fun with basketball, floor hockey, and indoor soccer. Our instructors will run some drills then organize games in each sport.

Badminton Camp
March 29 – April 1, 10 – 11:30am
Ages 10 – 16
Learn to serve, receive, and play the game. Emphasis is on skill development and learning the rules of
play. This camp is limited to 12 players to maximize individual attention and game supervision.

Gear Up Mountain Biking Camp at Shaugnessy Park
March 29 – April 1, 12:30 – 2:30pm
Ages 8 – 15
A Park Host will teach kids how to maneuver over different types of terrains and introduce them to the different areas of the Skills Park.

Kindercrew Play Camp at Hyde Creek
March 29 – April 1, 9am – 12pm or 4pm
Ages 5 – 7
We will have fun activities all geared for preschool children! The theme is spring activities and we will fit in crafts, stories, play and music to have your children want to come back for more!!! Field trip included.

Junior Sneakers Day Camp at Hyde Creek
March 29 – April 1, 9am – 4pm
Ages 5 – 7
Its all about fun and variety in this action packed day camp. Your child will make new friends, hike the trails, and play the day away. A lunch, snacks, drinks, and runners are required each day. Swim Days may be included on some of the days – bathing suit and towel required.

Sneakers Day Camp at Hyde Creek
March 29 – April 1, 9am – 4pm
Ages 7 – 12
This day camp is jam-packed with fun and opportunity for your child to experience many different activities. The program includes a recreational swim, great games, crafts and activities! Children will be partaking in outdoor activities so dress accordingly. Indoor running shoes, bathing suit and towel are needed at camp on a daily basis. Pack a lunch, snacks and drinks.

Art in the Morning

Use pastels, pencils, paints and a variety of art materials in a different project each day. Register for individual days.

The Artist in Me

6 – 12 years
Unleash the artist within as you draw, paint and sculpt using a variety of mediums and materials in this fun and supportive class.

Family Clay
March 29, 31, April 1 9:00 – 11:30am
1 child, 1 parent
Enjoy three days of Spring Break with your children making creative clay projects. Parents and children work on their own projects, side by side, and at their own pace.

Afternoon Clay
March 29 – April 1, 12:30 – 3:00pm
5 – 14 years
Join us for creative afternoons in the Clay Studio making fun and useful projects. New projects for returning students.

Youth Pottery
March 29 – April 1, 10:00am – 12:30pm
10 – 14 years
Learn to work on the potter’s wheel in this small class that offers individual attention. From centering the wayward clay to glazing your creations, this is a short fun class guaranteed to get you dirty and send you home with clean dishes. Classes include throwing on the wheel and some hand building.

Green Sculpture
March 29 – April 1, 1:00 – 3:00pm
10 – 14 years
Use recycled materials, found objects, things from nature and a variety of other art materials to create amazing three dimensional sculptures in this exciting program.

  2. why is it that the SD43 coquitlam school distract has the spring break from March 12-23 and you don’t have any programs during those days????

    • Mel, this post was written in 2010. We will be writing an article with info for 2012 soon, but I can assure you that this year’s camps coincide with this year’s Spring Break. If you want detailed info, you can look at the websites of groups that are offering camps directly.
